Rodrigo Navarro is an emerging artist whose work explores the intersection between the impermanence of existence and visual expression. His artistic perspective is shaped by profound personal experiences, from his fragile health at birth to a life marked by contrasting environments, including navigating authority figures, discovering Buddhist meditation, and immersing himself in various artistic disciplines.
During his adolescence, Rodrigo began drawing intensively, finding in the act of sketching a means to process his everyday reality. His artistic interests later expanded into photography, influenced by his spiritual practices at the Mawashi Reiki Center and his engagement with Buddhism. This period inspired his quest for visual forms capable of conveying contemplative experiences and a deep connection with his surroundings.
His formal artistic training began at the "Centro de Arte y Fotografía Zen" and was solidified in the studio of Emilio Lamerias, whom he considers his mentor due to his rigorous approach to painting techniques and art history. In 2017, Rodrigo enrolled in the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda," completing his studies in 2024. During this time, he combined formal education with practical experiences, including a residency in Lagos that propelled his participation in various group and solo exhibitions.
Among his most notable exhibitions are: Paisajes de interior at Lagos Mx, Girasol at JO-HS Galería, Salón ACME nº 11, Estudio ACME at the Zapopan Art Museum, and his recent recognition as the third-place winner at the VII Bienal José Atanasio Monroy. Rodrigo Navarro continues to develop his pictorial language through a constant reflection on being and space.
