VERÓNICA MADRID-MALO

1990, Bogotá

Verónica Madrid-Malo Bohórquez is a visual artist who graduated from the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, 2015). Her practice navigates between drawing—her primary field of exploration—painting, and occasionally installation. Verónica’s conceptual exploration is grounded in impermanence, also drawing on poetry as a resource for constructing her projects.

Passionate about plant and animal life, Verónica approaches these life forms from a contemplative perspective; she finds in nature languages of traces and translation, which she later transfers into emotional expression. Among her interests is also collective work within communities, where she organizes workshops with cultural and educational goals, leading training processes, among other initiatives.

Verónica has held solo exhibitions in Bogotá and participated in group exhibitions both in Colombia and internationally. She was one of the commissioned artists for the first phase of Colombia’s National Museum of Historical Memory, within the framework of "Voices to Transform Colombia." In 2022, she was one of the artists invited by the Arts Directorate of the Colombian Ministry of Culture to contribute to the creation of the document “Towards the Mainstreaming of Gender Equity in the Fields of Art, Culture, and Heritage.”
