MACARENA CÁRDENAS BENAVIDES
2002, Lima
Macarena Cárdenas is a multidisciplinary artist based in Lima, Peru, primarily focused on photography and textiles. Her work explores the relationship between the everyday and temporality, addressing themes such as identity and nostalgia. Through her practice, she questions the pace of the modern world and the idealization of extraordinary moments, offering a more reflective and critical perspective on what is fleeting and what endures in daily life.
She holds a gold medal degree in Contemporary Visual Arts from Corriente Alterna School of Design, Art, and Creativity. She has exhibited her work in several group shows in Lima.
Through photographing, filming, and curating these scenes, Cárdenas enters a state of heightened presence—paying close attention to sounds, light, and mundane compositions that might otherwise go unnoticed. This intuitive practice becomes a way of connecting with her surroundings, revealing moments of quiet significance and allowing her to rediscover the familiar through a new lens.
