VERA AUTIERO
2000, Caracas
Vera Autiero Flores is a Venezuelan visual artist who develops her artistic practice between Caracas and Madrid—cities that represent not only her geographical coordinates but also the emotional and symbolic axes that run through her work. From a young age, she was drawn to artistic and cultural expressions, leading her to earn a degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Digital Design.
Her work stems from figurative art but has evolved into a more conceptual approach, focusing on the intervention of organic materials such as paper and fabric. Through techniques like embroidery, traditionally associated with intimate and domestic labor, she creates pieces that explore social and psychological processes, with particular attention to the migratory experience and its emotional effects.
Her work seeks to create spaces of emotional resonance that invite dialogue around identity, belonging, and transformation.
Deeply connected to her roots, Vera finds constant inspiration in the landscapes of her childhood and the people who inhabit them. Her pieces are infused with a subtle nostalgia that not only evokes personal memories but also allows viewers to immerse themselves in their own recollections and emotions. Through a visual narrative that is intimate yet universal, she aspires to broaden the understanding of migration as an inner process that is as complex as it is essential.
